This terrific undated modern soul 12 inch by May Ervin sounds like from somewhere between 1983 and 1985.
A very cool first release on the Music International label from Philadelphia with 'Let's call it quits' on the A-side.
'What Is It' with its funky staccato synthbasslines and moody vocals has been a favorite of mine since I first heard it.
Big was my surprise when I incidentally obtained a green label issue of 'What Is It', with fantastic mixes of it on both sides.
That curiosity was released under the name Maye Ervin instead of May Ervin and seems way more rare than the blue label one.
Another 12 inch by May Ervin entitled 'Ladies Of The 80's' was released on the same label but not worth the buy really.
